Stony Creek Rehabilitation Plan launch event
After a seven month consultation and development period, the final Stony Creek Rehabilitation Plan was launched at a community event on Sunday 8 September.
Attracting over 250 local residents and contributors to the plan, the launch event was a great day full of family-friendly activities for all to enjoy including citizen science and frog art activities, native shrub and grass plantings, and hands-on educational and interactive shows from ‘Wild Action’ with animals that are found in the local region.
Wurundjeri Tribe Council Elder, Uncle Colin Hunter, opened the event with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony and the plan was officially launched by the Hon. Melissa Horne MP, Minister for Public Transport, Minister for Ports and Freight and local Member for Williamstown.
We also heard from our Executive General Manager of Service Delivery, Dr Nerina Di Lorenzo, CEO of the Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPAV), Dr Cathy Wilkinson, and City of Maribyrnong Mayor, Councillor Martin Zakharov.
The event was a great opportunity to thank the community for their valuable input and support to create the plan, and to provide an update about what actions from the plan are already underway, what will be happening over the next 12 months, and how the community can get involved.
