Pitcure of community meeting

We're on the hunt for passionate and enthusiastic people to join our Community Advisory Group and provide local knowledge, ideas and suggestions for the re-design of Arnolds Creek, Melton West.

Applications closed 12noon 29 March 2018.

Project background

Melbourne Water has committed to restore more than one kilometre of this concrete-lined creek to improve its amenity, community health and wellbeing, and peoples' connections with the natural environment.

By working in collaboration with the Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning (DELWP), Melton City Council, Western Water and representatives from the local community, we can develop a design that has input from residents and will include feedback from people who use the open space.

The role of the Community Advisory Group is to provide local knowledge, insights, ideas and suggestions and to share information about the reimagined Arnolds Creek as plans are being developed.

By working together we can improve the health of the waterway and create an accessible open space that looks and feels like a creek.

The purpose of the Arnold’s Creek Community Advisory Group is to provide:

  • input and advice, based on local knowledge, to the co-design
  • feedback on the designs as they are being finalised for construction.

Melbourne Water is looking to the community representatives to provide aspirations and ideas. It is anticipated that this group will include residents who live in the vicinity of Arnold’s Creek, recreational users of the open space and representatives from local associations and groups.

Prospective participants will need to complete an application form and meet the selection criteria.

Members of the Community Advisory Group will be expected to:

  • contribute local knowledge and information about the existing space
  • provide ideas and possibilities for re-designing and naturalising the space
  • offer feedback on ideas and the preferred options developed
  • share information with the broader community so that feedback can be captured and incorporated into the detailed design.

It is expected there will be three meetings/workshops over a six month period. These meetings will be held at a local venue (such as a community hall, council building), at a time preferred by most participants – either during the day or after hours.

Minutes will be taken at the meetings.

While Melbourne Water is committed to giving the Community Advisory Group’s advice full consideration, it may not be possible to implement some of the suggestions and ideas offered. Reasons will be provided if suggestions are not within the scope of this project.

The Community Advisory Group will be disbanded once the detailed design for construction has been approved. This is expected to be in October 2018.
