Managing flood risk in the region

Many organisations have a role in managing flood risks including local and state government, water authorities and emergency services. We have different roles and responsibilities including managing drainage, land use planning, delivering flood warnings, and managing large scale flood mitigation projects.

We also have responsibilities to support communities - before, during and after flood. Our aim is to help communities become ‘flood ready’.

Flood ready communities are aware of their level of flood risk, can take steps to prepare for flooding, and understand what to do when warnings are issued. They are likely to be safer, have reduced impacts and recover faster.

Thankyou for your feedback

Thank you for taking the survey and giving us your feedback. Your feedback will help us to plan and develop key programs over the life of the strategy to continue to make the region safer for our community and to assist communities to become flood-ready.

The Flood Management Strategy Port Phillip and Westernport 2021 – 2026 will be released later this year.

This page will be decommissioned in the coming month. For more information visit Melbourne Water's main website.
