Melbourne Water has released a draft strategy with specific objectives and targets for the Moonee Ponds sub-catchment. Let’s coordinate a response on the draft text.

Will developing design guidelines help?

If we develop design guidelines we expect to get a whole of government approach so we have consistent buy-in from management authorities and lead to our iconic waterway goal.

How do we manage governance of the collaboration?

If we establish a governing body with clear terms of reference and commitment through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), we expect to get greater buy-in, which will help us to reach our vision.

How do we progress the next steps on the visual mapping tool project?

How to identify planned projects, new project ideas, and their prioritisation?

How do we identify other stakeholders who need to provide information into this project, and how we can get that information?

How do we collect and collate all the existing GIS date into one map?

Which locations of interest along the creek should we visit?

At the Gowanbrae workshop, the group discussed a range of opportunities along the creek for informal site visits. Post here to discuss options for walks and talks about the creek.

Would you like to ‘guide’ the group along a section of the creek?

When and where do you propose we arrange the visit?

How should our group use these online tools?

This is a place where we can discuss the best way to collaborate online as a group. And how often should people be expected to contribute?

How and when should contact details be used?

What is the safest way to access and share documents?

Should there be word limits on discussion forums and in the chat?

Kensington Access to Moonee Ponds Creek

On June 13 some of us took a site visit to the Kensington part of the Moonee Ponds Creek. David and Liz talked through some ideas the Kensington Residents group has for improved access. Daniel from Launch Housing talked to us about some of the rough sleepers in the area. Attached is the Kensington Residents’ proposal. Comments on this site visit or the proposal are welcome here.

How can we share spatial data with the group?

At our May workshop, there was an overwhelming consensus from the group that we should develop a method of sharing spatial data for the benefit of the group.

This data will help inform future collaborative projects driven by the group, as well as assisting organisations with their own projects.

Let’s continue this discussion here. Some questions to consider include:

What data does your organisation have access to?

What data does your organisation need to inform the next steps for this group?

How might we make this data accessible to everyone in the group?

What processes are involved in sharing data with people outside your organisation?
